About Doops

Doops is a running log of what matters in AI-assisted software development — model releases, agentic coding tools, the papers and benchmarks worth knowing about, and the people writing the sharpest commentary on any of it. No stock tickers, no investment framing, no hype cycle. Just what's actually happening and why a developer might care.

Doops is a Web Directions project, curated by John Allsopp. Web Directions runs conferences for developers and designers — including AI Engineer and AI × Design — and Doops grew out of the same instinct: tracking, in public, what's actually worth paying attention to in this field.

Every day, a set of collectors pull raw signal from Hugging Face (trending models, daily papers), GitHub (a watched list of coding-agent and AI-infra repos), Artificial Analysis (model intelligence benchmarks), Hopper (Web Directions' own podcast-transcription tool), and a curated set of RSS feeds from people and companies worth following.

That raw data doesn't go straight on the site. A daily drafting pass turns it into a short list of candidate signals — and John reviews, edits, approves, or rejects every single one at an internal admin page before anything is published. Nothing goes live automatically. The dashboard and models/papers/benchmarks pages, by contrast, show the raw collected data directly, unfiltered — that's the input, not the editorial output.
